Stewart Falls

We had Sunday dinner at Troy and Daph’s. Troy had planned a hike to Stewart Falls after dinner. Jackie has wanted us to go on this hike for months and we finally got the chance. It is an absolutely gorgeous hike.Stewart Falls 088 Stewart Falls 090 Stewart Falls 048 Stewart Falls 018 Stewart Falls 005

On the way to the falls the dogs kept running into the kids and knocking them over. Not really a good idea since falling off the edge of the trail would seriously hurt. This is Esher trying to recover from Kinta knocking him down to the ground as she raced by.

My Love carrying Tristan after she had been knocked down by Kinta. It was kind of funny how the dogs kept knocking down the kids from the other family and not their own.

No one was too hurt but I think every kid was knocked over by the dogs at least once. Tristan and Madi got it twice. We learned on the way back that My Love had to lead us. Sebastian has to be in the front but also has to make sure his daddy is still with the pack, so that is why he runs back and forth. Every time he did Kinta would follow and the dogs would inevitably knock someone down each way.Stewart Falls 033 Stewart Falls 032 When My Love was in the front the dogs would just run ahead and look back every now and then to make sure he was still there. They didn’t hurt anyone on the way back. Grandma Jo was constantly in a panic for the safety of the kids. We made it back with all 7 in one piece.

They all loved the trail.

We all reached the falls except for Gary and Jo Ann. Tehy saw the falls from the top but didn’t make it all the way down. I’m glad they didn’t because the steepest part of it was at the end. It was so beautiful!

Kinta is not much of a water dog, but she will follow Sebastian wherever he goes.

Sebastian just loves laying in the cold water.

When we left the house close to 7 Jo Ann and I were very concerned about it getting dark while we were on the trail. Troy insisted it was a short trail and we would make it back before dark. He was wrong. By the time we reached the falls it was already getting dark. So everyone hurried back with the kids leaving me, Jo Ann and Gary behind. I felt so bad for Jo Ann since she has night blindness. It got really dark about half way. Jo Ann couldn’t see a thing. Pops was the brave knight that guides us both through the woods. Luckily, the boys returned with flashlights, unfortunately both lights were running on low batteries. It took us a long time but we finally made it down the hill. My poor love fell off the edge of the trail. He barely caught himself by a tree root or else he would have slid half way down the mountain. His knees, elbows and wrists were all hurt. We reached the bottom at 9:41 pm. Besides this last part it was actually a lot of fun! Can’t wait to go back!!!
