At The Fox Den

My very best friend Jackie invited us for dinner and we gladly accepted.  Between computers and gymnastics, I see Jackie every day of the week, but we never get to visit like we do when we see each other for dinner.  Our kids play so well together and Nate and Jackie are always so much fun to be around we love having these opportunities.

Before we got to her house at 5:45 we had been invited to a surprise birthday party for one of our neighbors.  When I drove by, there were only 3 cars in the parking lot of the church, which her husband reserved for the big party. I ran home and told Jared we had to hurry because I knew we wouldn’t be able to stay long and not many people were there. We rushed over and had a few bites to eat before we had to say good-bye. I’m so glad we went because it really seemed to make her happy.  I think the husband made the mistake of telling everyone that he invited to stop by anytime between 4-6. So I think people showed up at different times which didn’t add to the crowd. As we left another family took our place so it looked the same as when we were there… I’m think that happened a lot  during the party.

Okay I know every parent thinks this of their children but I just can’t believe how amazing Paris is.  Our assignment was dessert so I asked Paris to make her famous funfetti cake and she gladly did. This girl makes the very best funfetti cake in the world!!! It turned out amazing!!! Jared says it’s way better than mine!! I don’t mind that so much since baking IS NOT my life long ambition, so I gladly pass this job to Paris who loves doing it.

Dinner at The Fox Den 001

Esher and Tristan had gone with me to drop off Aubree and Tegan while Paris stayed home with dad to bake the cake. When we returned she had this for her brother and sister. She knows how much they love to lick off the mixers so she saved these for them…..VERY THOUGHTFUL! WHAT A GREAT SISTER!!!

This was the cake we took to dinner, it was sooooooo good!!!

Dinner at The Fox Den 005

Jackie made an amazing roast that Nate suggested they cook in Dr. Pepper.  Okay it was just incredible!!

Dinner at The Fox Den 006

Jackie hadn’t felt very well the day before and a little in the morning, she didn’t want her picture taken so that is her hiding behind Nate.  You can barley see her eyes.

Dinner at The Fox Den 004

We ate and talked  for hours. And again in this picture that Paris took Jackie is hiding behind Josiah. She did a better job this time because you can’t see anything but her  striped PJ bottoms under the table.

Dinner at The Fox Den 008

Okay so about 2 hours into being there we noticed we hadn’t seen or heard Esher the whole time so we had a moment of panic until we found this….

Dinner at The Fox Den 010

Esher had walked in sat on the couch and fallen asleep almost instantly.  And of course his sister was there to hold his hand while he slept.  If you fall asleep and Tristan is around she will find you and hold your hand whether you like it or not. It’s a very cute thing she does.

The kids all had fun watching TV and playing games

The Fuchs have decided to change their name to Fox, which is what Fuchs means in German.  They had an incident at school when Gracie won an award that was posted on the bulletin board. Someone changed her last name on it so with 2 other girls in the family they knew it would only start to get worse as the school years go by. So they will soon legally be Fox instead of Fuchs, but Gracie doesn’t want to wait so she has already started writing Fox after her name.

We had a wonderful evening with our friends!!! Thank you to The Fox Den for a great night!!!!

Sleepover

Our favorite sleepover friends/cousins came over Friday Night.  Maria is so awesome because she never complains about anything even when we give her more than 3 kids. We did a swap, so Tristan went to sleep at Ashlynn’s house and we got Tegan and Aubree.

On Saturday this is what Tegan and Esher had for breakfast and lunch Captain Crunch.  The other Blanchard's will only eat cereal or occasionally frozen pizza at our home because they don’t like anything I make them. Okay, they do love my crepes but I don’t always want to put in all that work to make them.  Our families just don’t eat the same things.

True Story

One day when Aubree was spending the night I made chicken and vegetables for the kids, when I gave Aubree hers she said “What is this?” I said “Haven’t you ever had chicken before?”  “Chicken,” she said “Chicken doesn’t  have bones in it.”  I laughed so hard as I walked to the pantry to get her a  bowl of cereal.  So I always stock up on Captain Crunch and Frosted Flakes before they arrive.

Tegan looks so cute with his one missing tooth.

The boys then went outside to pull the grass and then….

dump it on the trampoline.

They did all of this in their PJ’s. The days are finally in the 50’s which seems to have confused these boys to think it is WARM, because they came in begging me to turn on the hose so they could get wet.

After I said no and tried 3 times to explain that it is still cold, outside they went back to the trampoline to finish playing.

At 4pm we had to say good-bye to Tegan and Aubree.

The Tarahumara

So our amazing friends, Brent and Tammy, that we love but never get to really do things with finally took us to this Mexican restaurant that they have been telling us about forever.  The restaurant is called The Tarahumara which to me doesn’t sound Mexican at all, it seems more Indian.  But it truly is Mexican from Chihuahua in the Copper Canyon.  We drove our car, that is almost a year old, because they wanted to see how nice it was and ride in it. We didn’t mind at all because we love our car.  When we got to the restaurant Brent offered to buy us dinner and said he really wanted to so we let them, even though we were planning on buying it for them, NEXT TIME!!!

Okay you first walk in and order.  They have the menu written on a chalk board.  When you order you get chips and a buzzing thing to let you know when to go get your food from the pick up window.

So they have about 20 different salsas you can choose from and most of them are amazing! Brent and Jared filled up.

Tarahumara 001

At the table Jared opened the bottle caps and the two he did each landed in the salsa.  One in the mango salsa and one in the cilantro salsa.  It was very funny.

Tarahumara 004

Yes…. the restaurant is amazing.  Seriously the food was so good I wanted to go back the minute we left.  The only drawback is that it is in Midway about 30 minutes away but we aren’t strangers to doing more than a 30 minute drive for great food. Jared and I have definitely found a new place for good Mexican food thanks to Brent and Tammy! We should have known they would know great food because their favorite place is The Bombay  which is also ours!

The entire evening we talked about our trip to Paris/London and compared it to their trip to Paris.  They are going again in May this year.  Tammy is one of the French Teachers for the UVU abroad program so it looks like she might be going every year, and of course Brent has to go too. Hopefully, one of these years we can join them so we can experience it more thru their eyes.  The entire evening was just SO MUCH FUN!!! They are just the coolest people ever and they are so much fun to talk to about travel and movies, they love movies!!.

Tarahumara 007

Hopefully this year we can get together a bit more!! Thank you Brent and Tammy for such a wonderful evening!!!

Our Little Entrepreneur

At Paris’ school they have been earning money for a few weeks now for this Market Day. Each student had to bring in a product that they made to sell at “their store”.  Our little seamstress made PURSES.

She worked on it all night and ended up with 12 purses.  The last 2 I had to make for her because she was not feeling well and was really tired. The next morning she stayed home from school for a few hours because she still wasn’t feeling well.  She made it in time for lunch and The Market.

FHE

We had so much fun the night before tonight we decided to just chill.  We did a movie in our theater which we love and are very grateful that we have.  We saw IGOR, but we wouldn’t recommend it.  The char actors are so mean and conniving we hate it when animation films expose kids to that…. it just doesn’t need to be.
