In the past My Wonderful Love takes us all out to the ballet and dinner but this year we could only splurge on one not both so we went to a $6 matinee play at BYU and dinner at Tepanyaki’s (the splurge).
We went to see A 1000 Cranes.
It is a sad story about a 10 year old girl who gets leukemia from the atomic bomb that was dropped on her home town Hiroshima, Japan when she was 2 weeks old. Someone had told her that if you make 1000 cranes you could make a wish and the gods would grant it because of your beautiful sacrifice of the cranes you had made. She died when she had reached almost 700 cranes. There is a peace monument in her honor in Hiroshima. After the play we were all taught by the actors how to make the cranes.
Esher got the girl sitting behind him to help him.
We had McKinley with us. She is such a cute girl!!
One of the guys in the play gave Esher the golden crane that represents the golden crane that the statue of the little girl holds in Hiroshima.
We all put our cranes in the box that will be going to Japan to sit at the foot of the statue. Apparently, people from all over the world, send cranes with peace wishes on them to the monument in Hiroshima.
It was a beautiful but very sad story. It’s overwhelming how sad the history of the world can be at times!

The kids just love it and always eat every single bite of there dinner which is a definite bonus.
The food is just incredible!!!
