Women’s Conference

This year I wasn’t really planning on going to Women’s Conference and I kind of accidently did.

Women's Conference 005

My best friend Jackie invited me to a humanitarian project the women in her neighborhood were doing. Jackie is a member of a different church that she loves, but is ALWAYS willing to help out in any service project that she can regardless of the religion. So, she asked me if I would like to help. I have never been that involved in humanitarian projects like Jackie is…sure I help make a hygiene kit or “I Spy” game here and there but nothing like Jackie does. She also had me help out with The Food and Care Coalition a couple months ago-I loved it.

So we show up at the local church building and they start giving us instructions on when to show up at BYU and all the training we will be doing today. Jackie turns to me and says “ I think we signed up for a lot more than I thought.” And then they mentioned Women’s Conference and how we would have hundreds of women coming in to do our project-YES, we had signed up for a lot more than we had thought. We both laughed at how my non-LDS friend got me involved in all this.

Women's Conference 003

Well, it was so much fun and I loved spending that extra time with Jackie!!! She is just so wonderful with everyone and just jumps right in to help with anything and everything….I need to be more like Jackie, SHE’S AMAZING and I just love her!!!

Women's Conference 004

I got to go to conference with all of Jo Ann’s wonderful childhood friends. What fascinating women they all are!! And don’t let Connie’s slow pace and vehicle handicap sticker fool you…She drives like a 16 year old with only 5 minutes to go around the world and back.

Women's Conference 001

We had a wonderful lunch all together on the second day.

We just sat and talked ……I just loved listening to all their incredible stories!!!

Women's Conference 006

The most important thing I learned was that my priorities must always be in order to be as powerful a mom and a Woman of Christ as I am entitled to be!

Priority #1-The Essentials

-Scripture Study

-Temple & Church Attendance

-Taking The Sacrament

-Personal Prayers

-Service

-Fasting and Pondering… Who I am? What is my responsibility in The House Of Israel? How can I fulfill these responsibilities?

Priority #2-The Necessary

-Being A Homemaker

-Having My Home In Order, & As Often As Possible, Clean

-Having Dinners Together to Create a Gathering Place For Teaching and Learning

-Love and Kindness Towards My Wonderful  Husband (Too Easy!!!)

-Self Reliance= Being Debt Free (Too Hard!!!)

-To Smile Often

Priority #3-Nice To do Things

-Lunches With Friends

-Crafts

-TV

-Etc. The things on this list won’t save you or help you when you need our Father In Heaven, Revelation, Guidance or Comfort. When the other two priorities are fulfilled then we can indulge in #3, but NEVER should this be at the top of our priority list!!! When it is, we lose power as a mom and Woman of Christ! We create our own chaos and  lose our way!

We are only limited by our Faithfulness!!!

Sebastian Loves Our Bed

No Sebastian won’t sleep with us because he is always way too hot and My Love puts out as much heat as the Sun, which is awesome in the winter for me! In the Summer I have to put a pillow between us so I won’t melt away. So, Sebastian likes to sleep on the bed during the day when it’s just him and all those comfy pillows.

Nothing Like A Brother & Sister

These two are just the cutes together! They come up with the sweetest games and mischief together. I just love it!!! They are seriously best of  friends. They can’t even sleep without each other. Well tonight after their baths they decided to do a switch-a-roo and wear each other’s PJ’s and hats.. Tristan barely squeezed into Esher’s. I just had to take a picture!!!

Golfing

My kids have wanted to golf for the longest time, but I just didn’t want to spend the money for kid golf clubs. When I was home in April I asked if Iain and Victoria still golfed with Omar and they didn’t so I asked if we could borrow their golf clubs so Jared can teach our kids how to golf. The minute it got a little warm they started practicing in the back yard. I didn’t get a picture of the girls, but I did get some of Esher. He was so cute!!!

He did hit the ball a few times. I decided to give it a try thinking I would never hit it because I never do. Of course, this time I did hit it straight into our vinyl fence and I put a hole in it.

Jonsi & A Long Weekend

We went to the most incredible concert My Love and  I have ever been to- JONSI.

jonsi gangWe flew into Denver because he wasn’t coming to SLC, but Meagan ended up having her baby that night so we ended up staying at Price and Mae’s place for  the weekend taking care of their kids while Gary and Jo Ann took our kids. The alternative was Gary and Jo Ann flying in after we came back the day after the concert. We loved being there, all of Price and Mae’s kids are just so fun to be around. My favorite of the weekend was playing Scrabble.

We did have tickets to 2 Rockies games, but one was rained out and the other we were snowed in. The weather in Colorado is just plain crazy! We got stuck in a snow drift. Some kids in a fun jeep with super high shocks and giant tires pulled us out. The AAA truck we called also got stuck, so we were grateful for the kids pulling us out! The truck driver from AAA was just a complete jerk. I think he got stuck because of his bad Karma.

I loved having 5 days to hang out with my wonderful love. It is just the best being married to someone you are truly in love with!!!!

We were all excited that Kira and Joe got to join us this time. We also celebrated Kira’s birthday while we were all together.

Our family was in charge of the lesson this week so we did Joseph from the 12 tribes. We talked about his continued faith throughout ALL of his MANY trials and how he NEVER lost his way even though he had plenty of excuses. The kids acted part of his life out for the family.

I love Gary and Jo Ann’s expressions here.
